In this day and age, more and more people are starting to feel that they cannot function without the help of drugs or alcohol. As those caught in the cycle of addiction know, the need for the substance or behavior can eclipse everything else in life.
Healing from addiction requires not only moving toward a healthier environment, but also the transformation of your inner world.
With our person-centered, strengths approach, we can work together to identify the root causes of your addiction, and change how they affect you so that they no longer hold power over you. Furthermore, we can help you rediscover and redefine your values, core beliefs, personal strengths, and ultimately, your future.
Just because you have struggled with addiction doesn't mean that is all you are. With some effort, support, and guidance, you can learn to cope in a healthy way as you work to develop your strengths.
Minding You can help you on your journey. We specialize in the area of Addiction Recovery, as Stephanie Higdon is both a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a certified ASAM Level One Outpatient Treatment Provider, with years of experience in the field.
We are not AA or NA. We understand that the road to recovery is a winding, rocky journey, one that sometimes encounters detours and is always full of obstacles.
To help our clients who are struggling to overcome these issues, we employ the Matrix structure, which has become a highly celebrated approach to Addiction Recovery. In this structured approach, there is emphasis on both individual and group sessions, both of which cover focus topics in areas such as: personal empowerment, understanding addiction, emotional healing, the significance of family and interpersonal relationships, and providing tools and knowledge about how to prevent a relapse.
My substance abuse counseling experience has mainly focused on opiate (pain / RX medications) dependency and abuse. I have personally seen how this epidemic has taken countless lives and left many more feeling hopeless, powerless, and suffering.
I believe that promoting effective and realistic recovery efforts is the only way we can counteract this deadly epidemic.
Through personal life experience as well as countless hours spent helping others through my work, I know that the struggles of addiction are very real. However, I have also learned that recovery is not just conceivable, but that it is possible, if you are ready.
My commitment to each life I touch is to do everything in my power to help them take steps to recover from addiction; to develop the desire and ability to repair their lives; and ultimately, to keep someone alive.
