DANIELSVILLE, GA IS A SMALL COMMUNITY AND PEOPLE TALK. IS MY CONFIDENTIALITY GUARANTEED?

The simple answer to this is "Yes, of Course"! The more detailed answer is that legally and ethically all therapists are required to maintain confidentiality with their clients' protected health information. There are a few exceptions (such as life or death emergency situations, a court order, threats to harm self or another person, reporting suspected or known incidents of child abuse/neglect, adult and /or elderly abuse) - these are rare circumstances which  may involve a minimal disclosure of your identity to authorities, without your permission . Additionally, if you disclose knowledge of a crime or someone threatens to harm another person, the NASW Code of Ethics mandates social workers to report this accordingly. Other than those limited exceptions all sessions are confidential and your right to privacy is guaranteed as well as protected by state and federal laws.

DO YOU WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES AND FAMILIES?  Yes, While I mainly specialize in treating individuals, I do see families as needed.  How a family unit is worked with is highly dependent on the needs and dynamics of the situation and of each individual family member. Additionally, your progress and growth in individual therapy may benefit  from a family session or joint session with a significant other. This is a different approach and can be discussed as those needs arise.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY FIRST SESSION ? When we first meet, we will talk about many things, but specifically in the first session you will complete standard intake paperwork (if not completed prior to) and we will talk about your goals for therapy and what it is you need help with. The focus is to start building rapport and trust and to help me get to know and understand you on a deeper level. I also use this session to help you insure I am the "best fit" for what you are seeking to achieve.

HOW LONG WILL THERAPY TAKE?

1.) Each therapy session is 53-60 minutes long.  Hypnotherapy sessions are either 60 minutes or 120 minutes depending on which you scheduled.

2.) The length of how long someone is engaged in therapy is very much dependent on each individual and the goals they are interested in achieving. Some people come into therapy with specific short term goals which can be accomplished in a few sessions. Other clients require a longer course of therapy to change more significant underlying aspects of their lives.

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO WORKING WITH PEOPLE FROM DIVERSE ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS,  RELIGIONS, TRADITIONS, SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS, AND BELIEF / VALUE SYSTEMS?

I believe that each of us is unique and led by  individualized and specific ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender roles, traditions, beliefs and value systems.  With this said, we are all different and it is for these reasons that I take an individualized approach to each person I serve. Furthermore, I believe that regardless of where you came from or where you are going no one person is better than any other. To each, embrace the right to nurture your own, be proud of who you are and stand for what you believe.  I will help you do this.
On this note, I appreciate learning about diverse cultures and find value in allowing clients to educate me about themselves. This goes a long way to helping me fully appreciate what is special about you as we get to know each other and work together. Undeniably, this also enriches the therapeutic relationship and helps build an authentic and productive therapist - client relationship.
